Privacy Policy
Adams County Children’s Advocacy Center (ACCAC)
Effective date: November 3, 2026
ACCAC collects only the information it needs to run this website, process gifts, and keep supporters informed, and it does not sell or rent personal information. This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us handle it, and the choices you have.
This policy applies to kidsagaincac.org (the “Site”). ACCAC is a private 501(c)(3) nonprofit located at 450 West Middle Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325. In this policy, “ACCAC,” “we,” and “us” mean the Adams County Children’s Advocacy Center.
This policy covers the Site only. It does not cover information shared with us in person, by phone, or in the course of our services to children and families, which is protected under separate confidentiality rules. Third-party sites that we link to, including social media pages, have their own privacy policies.
Information we collect
We collect information in three ways: what you give us, what we gather automatically when you visit, and what our service providers record on our behalf.
Information you give us
- Contact and speaker request forms. Your name, email address, phone number if you provide it, and the message you write.
- Mailing list signup. Your email address and any name you choose to enter.
- Donations and event payments. Your name, email address, mailing address, gift amount, whether the gift is one-time or monthly, any dedication or comment you add, and payment details (see “Donations and payment processing” below).
- MDIT login. Members of the Multi-Disciplinary Investigative Team who have accounts provide a name, professional contact details, and login credentials.
- Job applications and other messages you send us through the Site.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, our servers and tools may record your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, the pages you view, the page you came from, the date and time of your visit, and how you move through the Site (clicks, scrolling, and similar actions). Some of this is collected through cookies and similar technologies, described in the next section.
We do not ask for, and do not need, details about a child or a case in order for you to use the Site.
Cookies, analytics, and similar technologies
We use a small set of tools to keep the Site secure and working, and to understand how it is used so we can improve it.
| Tool | What it does | Provider |
|---|---|---|
| Google Tag Manager | Loads and manages the other tools below. It does not collect visitor data itself. | |
| Google Analytics 4 (GA4) | Reports on visits: pages viewed, time on site, device type, and general location such as city or region. We do not use it for advertising or audience profiling. | |
| Hotjar | Shows us where visitors click, scroll, and get stuck, through heatmaps and anonymized session recordings. Form fields, the MDIT login and dashboard, and payment fields are excluded from recording, and IP addresses are anonymized. | Hotjar |
| Cloudflare | Protects the Site from bots and attacks, and speeds up page delivery by caching copies of pages. It may set security cookies and process your IP address for these purposes. | Cloudflare |
These tools use cookies, which are small files stored on your device, and similar technologies to recognize your browser between page views. Some cookies are strictly needed for the Site to work or stay secure, such as login and security cookies.
Your choices
- Browser settings. You can block or delete cookies in your browser. Some parts of the Site, such as the MDIT login and donation forms, may not work without them.
- Google Analytics. You can install Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- Hotjar. You can opt out at Hotjar’s opt-out page. Hotjar also honors your browser’s Do Not Track setting.
- Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. We honor these signals where our tools support them.
Donations and payment processing
You can give to ACCAC on the Site as a one-time gift or as a monthly recurring gift, using PayPal or a credit or debit card. Payments are processed by PayPal and Authorize.net, not by ACCAC.
We do not store your card number. Card details are sent directly to Authorize.net or PayPal. ACCAC never stores full card numbers, security codes, or PayPal login details on its own servers.
What we keep. We keep a record of each gift: your name, contact information, gift amount, date, gift type (one-time or monthly), payment method, a transaction reference, and any note or dedication you add. We use it to process and acknowledge your gift, send tax receipts, keep financial records, and comply with the law.
Payment processors’ own policies. PayPal and Authorize.net handle your payment information under their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to read.
Monthly gifts. A monthly gift renews automatically until you ask us to stop. To change or cancel a monthly gift, contact us at gro.cacniagasdik@ofni or 717-337-9888, and tell us the name and email address used for the gift.
Donation and contact forms. Some forms on the Site, including forms built with Ninja Forms, may collect gift or event payment information. They follow the same rules described here.
Questions about a gift. If you see an error or have a question about a gift, please contact us at 717-337-9888 or email gro.cacniagasdik@ofni.
We do not share donor information with other organizations for their own marketing. Donors may be named in our own recognition materials.
How we use and share information
ACCAC does not sell, rent, or trade personal information.
How we use it
- To respond to your messages, speaker requests, and other inquiries
- To process, acknowledge, and keep records of gifts and event payments
- To send newsletters and updates, if you joined our mailing list
- To operate the MDIT login and dashboard for team members
- To keep the Site secure, prevent fraud and bot abuse, and fix problems
- To understand how the Site is used and make it easier to use
- To meet legal, tax, accounting, and grant-reporting obligations
Who we share it with
We share information only with service providers who help us run the Site and our work, and only as needed for that purpose:
- Payment processors: PayPal and Authorize.net
- Email provider for our mailing list: Mailchimp
- Analytics and site-improvement tools: Google (Tag Manager and Analytics) and Hotjar
- Security and performance provider: Cloudflare
- Our website hosting provider and the web development and marketing firm that maintains the Site
These providers may use the information only to provide their services to us. We may also disclose information when the law requires it, such as in response to a valid legal request, or when needed to protect the safety of a child, our staff, or the public.
Sensitive information, children, and your safety online
Please do not send details of abuse through the Site. The Site’s forms are not a safe way to report abuse or share information about a child or a case. If a child is in danger, call 911. To report suspected abuse in Pennsylvania, contact ChildLine at 1-800-932-0313 or use the Keep Kids Safe online report. To reach ACCAC about services, call 717-337-9888.
Browsing safely. Websites can leave a trace in your browser history. If you are concerned that someone may see that you visited this Site, use the Quick Exit button, clear your browsing history, or use a private browsing window. Quick Exit takes you to another website immediately, but it does not erase your history on its own.
Children’s privacy. The Site is intended for adults: caregivers, supporters, and professionals. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the Site. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Retention, security, and your choices
How long we keep information. We keep information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy or as the law requires. Gift records are kept for tax and accounting purposes. Mailing list information is kept until you unsubscribe.
How we protect information. We use reasonable safeguards, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), Cloudflare security protections, and restricted access to Site accounts. No website or system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your choices. You may ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you from the Site
- Correct or delete that information, subject to records we must keep by law
- Remove you from our mailing list, which you can also do with the unsubscribe link in any email
- Stop a monthly gift
Contact us at the address below to make a request. We may need to confirm who you are before acting on it.
Changes to this policy. We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top shows when it last changed, and we will post the current version on this page.
